Told in alternating third-person perspectives between Tevis's cozy, oblivious farming thoughts and Oksia's awe-struck reverence, the story follows the duo as the corrupt empire assumes Tevis is raising a demonic army. As Tevis effortlessly swats away world-ending beasts with a fishing rod, he uncovers chilling clues left by the swamp's original, forgotten god - a god who seems to have his exact handwriting.
