The Sparrow and the Storm

Otylia Rostova’s only inheritance is a name whispered like a curse. The last of a bloodline that once commanded the very soul of the fractured land of Szarkovina, she has spent her life in hiding, sharp-tongued and proud, content to let the world believe her extinct. But when her guardian dies, her long-dormant power erupts - a tempest of raw, untamed energy that paints a target on her back for the brutal Autarch's regime. Her only hope is Kazimir Volya, the formidable leader of the Kestrel Rebellion. He sees her not as a person but a symbol, a living weapon to unite the warring clans under his banner. Forced into a reluctant alliance, Otylia must flee across a war-torn landscape with Kazimir as her protector, his every action a reminder that her life is secondary to his cause. As they evade assassins and monstrous Drutes, the bond between them deepens, but so does the danger. Her power is a beacon, and her former best friend, Jadwiga, now a high-ranking enforcer for the Autarch, is hunting her with obsessive cruelty. But the true threat may not be the enemy she knows, but the friend she trusts. Can Otylia master her legacy in time to save her people, or will she become a martyr for a cause built on a devastating lie?
