I died in a lab explosion. I woke up a statue. My new body is a shell of crystalline silica, a victim of the Glass Plague that freezes its victims in the moment of their greatest terror. I can think, perceive, but not move. For decades, I was a prisoner in my own mind until a surge of ambient mana gave me a flicker of control - not over flesh and blood, but over the very elements that compose my prison. As Teodor Vask, a failed alchemist, I now see this world’s magic for what it is: a primitive, elegant form of applied chemistry. The mages of the Kresnik Conclave cling to dogma, but I see universal constants and reaction kinetics. Using principles of programming and molecular engineering, I've started building self-modifying spell arrays - a heresy that allows me to slowly, painfully, reclaim my form. My goal is to cure myself and the thousands of others petrified by the plague, but the plague's creator, the ancient Shardling, sees this 'cure' as a violation of its divine purpose. Can I deconstruct this world's magical laws before my own mind shatters under the strain of being less than human?
