My Roommate is a Bloodsucking Calamity

Gisela von Kessel is a horticultural genius, or she was, until a spectacular (and very public) failure involving explosive snap-peas left her career in ruins. Her only path back to prestige is to find the Silversoul Bloom, a legendary flower said to cure any ailment. When a freak storm shipwrecks her on a forgotten isle, she takes shelter in a decrepit castle, only to find herself the unwilling guest of its master: Valerius, a monstrous, shadow-wreathed beast who subsists on life force. He's morose, sarcastic, and cursed to the bone. Gisela, proud and prickly, is more annoyed than scared. She's stuck with a monster who keeps trying to 'politely' sip her energy, a ridiculously pompous suitor from back home trying to 'rescue' her, and a kleptomaniac moss-lemur named Pip who keeps stealing her research notes. As Gisela begrudgingly helps Valerius manage his curse, she realizes the monster and her mythical flower are connected in a way that could either save them both... or get them permanently killed. Can she cultivate a cure for his curse without sacrificing her own ambitions, or will her obsession to reclaim her reputation be the very thing that dooms them both?
