In a world where magic comes from nature, humans form contracts with spirits to wield their powers. Each spirit is unique, even among the same element, granting its chosen partner a different way of fighting and using magic. Above countless ordinary spirits exist sixteen legendary beings known as the Mythical Elementals, ancient spirits powerful enough to take many forms and command the forces of their element. Sixteen-year-old Ark lives a quiet life with his sister, unaware of the truth behind his mysterious past. But strange dreams, a mark in his eye, and secrets surrounding his family soon pull him into a journey across a world filled with spirits, kingdoms, ancient civilizations, and forgotten mysteries. To uncover the truth, Ark must seek out the sixteen Mythical Elementals. But they are not weapons. They are beings with their own personalities, histories, beliefs, and reasons to either trust or reject humanity. And Ark's journey will change far more than he ever expected.
