He soon discovers "Resonants"—individuals capable of instinctively interfacing with the dormant aetheric mechanisms left behind by the Old World, yet persecuted as blasphemers by the dominant Merchant Guilds and Temple Oracles. With his comprehensive knowledge of engineering, metallurgy, and governance, Kaelen begins to transform his humble settlement. He allies with these feared Resonants, harnessing their unique abilities to reawaken lost technologies and innovate new ones, from steam-powered automation to resilient defenses. As the isle prospers, drawing the envious gaze of powerful warlords and the ominous attention of ancient, crystalline entities emerging from the deep, Kaelen must forge a new society capable of defending itself, not only from its present rivals but from the encroaching shadows of a forgotten evil.
