Elara Vance, a pragmatic modern-day engineer, awakens not in her comfortable apartment, but within the body of Bronwyn Stonefield - a notorious jinx in the desolate Fractured Wilds of Aerthos. Bronwyn, known for her uncanny knack for accidental calamity, is a pariah in her ramshackle frontier settlement, constantly blamed for every broken tool and spoiled harvest. Her family, a collection of rough-hewn, well-meaning but utterly misguided folk, are only slightly less troublesome than Bronwyn herself. Their latest blunder? Dragging home a severely injured, seemingly useless man from a scavenged caravan - a prize intended for ransom, but whom Bronwyn’s kin mistook for a common, valuable artifact. He's called 'The Silent Star,' a legendary figure from a fallen, technologically advanced empire, now broken and comatose. Tasked with tending to this mysterious prisoner, Elara soon discovers her 'bad luck' body possesses an unexpected talent for activating ancient Aether-tech and inadvertently harnessing wild magic. Between teaching her chaotic family how to farm efficiently, coaxing three scruffy, wild children into something resembling civility, and slowly nursing her enigmatic captive back to health, Elara finds herself accidentally rebuilding an entire community.
