Chapter 7 of 10
The Majestic Bucket Ascension

The Anti-Cheat Warden roared, a sound like grinding stone gears, as it landed with a shockwave that rattled the masonry of the vault. Wireframe hounds, their forms a jumble of jagged lines and un-textured polygons, snarled and snapped, coalescing from the chaotic data flow. Their eyes, though simple crimson points, tracked Vozhan with predatory intent.
Vozhan didn't blink. His gaze remained fixed on the Null-Space Compass, now inert. The path was clear, but the way was blocked.
“Grizmak,” he stated, his voice flat, “we need a blunt instrument.”
The homunculus, still trembling from his violent regurgitation, looked up, a raw cabbage leaf clinging to his cheek. “A… a what, Vozhan? I just… I just threw up a key.”
“Your hitbox,” Vozhan elaborated, already moving. He snatched Grizmak by the scruff of his baggy tunic. “It’s remarkably resilient. A useful property for a projectile.”
“A projectile?!” Grizmak shrieked, flailing as Vozhan swung him like a sack of especially vocal potatoes. “I’m not a projectile! I’m an inventory bag! A sidekick! A friend!”
“You’re a distraction,” Vozhan corrected, winding up. The nearest wireframe hound lunged, its maw snapping with digital fangs. With a grunt that bordered on indifferent, Vozhan flung Grizmak. The homunculus sailed through the air, screaming, and slammed into the hound. The impact resonated with a sickening *CRUNCH* that shouldn’t have come from a creature made of code, but the hound dissolved into a shower of errant data, its scream cut short.
[Warning: Unintended physics interaction. Homunculus Grizmak registered as 'Unbreakable Object'.]
“See?” Vozhan observed, catching the dazed Grizmak as he bounced back. “Optimal performance.”
Tazliq, having finally shaken off the existential dread to witness this, stared. “He just… he used Grizmak as a club,” he murmured, disbelief warring with a strange admiration. “That’s… efficient?”
Chunzal, however, had a different reaction. Her eyes, usually so cold, now sparkled with a fervent intensity. “Oh, Vozhan,” she whispered, a delicate hand pressed to her chest. “You’re so resourceful. So delightfully brutal. I knew you were the one for me.” She then agilely scaled a collapsing pillar, her daggers flashing, tearing through another hound that dared to approach her. “Come, my love! Let’s escape this mechanical beast!”
The Warden took a heavy step, its crimson eyes focusing solely on Vozhan. The gaping hole in the roof beckoned, revealing the swirling, turbulent gales outside the tower. It was a dizzying, perilous ascent.
Vozhan spotted a discarded tin pail in a corner, its handle bent. He picked it up. “Tazliq, your hover-sword. Now.”
Tazliq, still processing the Grizmak-as-weapon maneuver, fumbled at his side. “My… my Gale-Blade of Windswept Radiance? But… it’s a ceremonial artifact!”
“It hovers,” Vozhan deadpanned. “That’s its primary function right now.”
Reluctantly, Tazliq handed over the ornate blade. Vozhan, without a word, tossed it back. “You’ll need it. Keep up.” Then, with a fluid motion that belied the absurdity of his actions, Vozhan placed the container on the ground, stepped onto it, crouched, and hauled upward on its wire handle.
[Physics anomaly detected. Object 'Bucket' and Player 'Vozhan' are co-locating. Vertically displaced by 'Prop-Fly' exploit.]
With a sudden lurch, Vozhan and his perch shot upwards, accelerating at an alarming rate. The scream of Grizmak, once again clutched under Vozhan’s arm, became a high-pitched whine as the Spire floor rapidly receded beneath them. They were ascending the outside of the colossal tower at incredible velocity, the wind whipping around them with the force of a gale.
“He’s… he’s flying on a wash pail!” Tazliq exclaimed, dumbfounded. He quickly realized Vozhan's intention, scrambling onto his hover-sword, which sputtered to life with a faint hum. “Wait for me, Vozhan! I still haven’t figured out the controls for this thing!” He wobbled dangerously, nearly colliding with a crumbling data console.
Chunzal, however, was in her element. She moved like a shadow, scaling the sheer, wind-blasted wall of the Spire with impossible grace, her daggers finding purchase in every crack and crevice. She glanced up at Vozhan, her grin widening even as the Warden fired a blinding beam of pure data at his retreating form. “Oh, my magnificent daredevil!” she cooed, her voice barely audible over the howling gale. “Such innovative techniques! Truly, only you would dare to defy the very laws of reality with such… panache!”
The wireframe hounds, despite their digital forms, were tenacious. A pack of them launched themselves from the broken floor, leaping across the gap, their crimson eyes locked onto Vozhan’s soaring form. They moved with terrifying speed, closing the distance, their jagged maws opening to tear into him.
Vozhan, still clutching Grizmak, simply raised an eyebrow. The air around him crackled. A moment later, a bolt of pure, unadulterated energy descended from the perpetually storm-laden skies of Zulqen, not a millisecond off schedule. It struck the leading hound directly, not only vaporizing it into a burst of harmless static but also creating a chain reaction that disintegrated the entire pack trailing behind it. The blast impulse launched Vozhan even higher, faster.
[System Alert: Daily Lightning Strike 'Event_Chaos_Vozhan' executed. Collateral Damage: 7 'Wireframe_Hound' units eliminated.]
“My curse,” Vozhan intoned, his voice flat over the wind, “has its uses.”
Below, Tazliq struggled to maintain control of his hover-sword, which bucked and swayed. “He uses his *curse* as a weapon? This is… this is beyond legendary! Is this the fabled ‘Ruinous Thunder Art’?”
The Warden, now fully emerged from the chamber, tracked Vozhan’s ascent. Its multi-faceted eyes glowed brighter, its form shifting, re-calculating. A low, guttural whine emanated from its core, growing in intensity.
[Exploit Detected: 'Prop-Fly'. Updating physics engine. Patching…]
Vozhan felt a subtle shift in the air. The upward momentum faltered, then stuttered. The tin cylinder beneath his feet began to pixellate, its form distorting at the edges.
[Patch complete. Object 'Bucket' is now unstable. Deleting in 3… 2…]

The tin rim beneath Vozhan’s feet vanished into a puff of digital smoke, leaving him suspended, momentarily, in mid-air. Then gravity asserted its undeniable claim. He began to plummet, Grizmak’s shriek echoing as they fell, the abyss of Zulqen yawning below. Grizmak's tunic tore slightly in Vozhan's grip as they began their unchecked drop toward the jagged spires below.
