Dr. Lyra Thorne, a disgraced neuro-engineer, has spent two agonizing cycles tending to a forbidden stasis patient within her clandestine clinic in Neo-Veridia Sector 7. He is a ghost from her past, a 'Purifier' for the omnipresent corporate-religious entity known as The Hive, whose brutal legacy Lyra has desperately tried to outrun.
