The Dust-Witch of Otrevka

Lenya Volosova once saw futures in the settling dust, a magical heritage her family prized until they stole it, leaving her powerless and destitute. Now she cleans the grand Otrevka Archives, a ghost haunted by the life she lost. Her ordinary morning shatters when she's mistaken for a legendary, high-born diviner by the sharp-tongued Inspector Kestril Voronin, who's investigating a magical blight corrupting the city's foundations. Trapped in a dangerous lie, Lenya seizes the chance to get close to her treacherous family and their ill-gotten fortune. Guided by her devoted friend Pavlo, she navigates a world of spectral politics and simmering rivalries, her dormant powers reawakening in a volatile, uncontrollable form. As she and Kestril clash, their animosity ignites an unexpected spark, but the closer she gets to vengeance, the more she realizes the blight isn't just in the city's stones - it's in her bloodline, and the friend she trusts most may be the one who buried the truth. Can Lenya reclaim her name without becoming the monster they made her?
