Shadows of the First Ash

In a world where one's soul-flame dictates their absolute social standing, Sharon is a ghost. Born with a fractured, sparkless core, his existence is an illegality punished by execution. He survives in the soot-choked underbelly of the grand floating city of Solaria, hiding behind a mask of cold, enigmatic silence. But when a dying rebel thrusts a forbidden, obsidian-stone artifact into his chest, Sharon inherits the 'Ashen Devourer' - a terrifying cheat that allows him to absorb the power of slain monsters and high-ranking mages alike. As the tyrannical Solar Inquisition launches a brutal purge to recover the artifact, Sharon is thrust into a deadly game of survival. With every high-octane battle, his strength mutates, forcing him to choose between retreating into the safety of his isolation or rising to burn down the corrupt skies that branded him a defect.
