In a world shattered by the Great Sundering, where magical ley lines now pulse through urban ruins and monstrous 'Echoes' hunt the unwary, Ashryn finds himself bound to a sentient, parasitic shadow. This shadow, 'Rhoss', grants him superhuman speed and strength, but demands a toll: feeding on the raw emotions of others, particularly intense thrill. Ashryn, haunted by the loss of his family to an Echo attack and wracked with guilt over his inability to protect them, is forced into the dangerous role of an underground 'Thrillsmith', baiting and battling Echoes to satiate Rhoss and survive. He dreams of using Rhoss's power to discover the truth behind the Sundering and prevent further tragedies, but his dependence on the shadow forces him to flirt with darkness, risking his own humanity in a desperate quest for redemption. Can he control the monster within, or will it consume him entirely?
