(Part 1): The Guardian That Waited
The morning passed quietly.
Adrian sat in his room, looking at the documents on his computer screen. The sunlight entered through the window, illuminating the familiar surroundings—a desk, books, and engineering notes. It was a life that appeared completely ordinary.
No one in the house knew that during the previous night, Adrian had been above the clouds, refining materials capable of changing the future. No one knew that the quiet young man sitting in front of a computer was the same existence who once stood at the peak of countless worlds.
Adrian wanted it that way. For now.
He finished his university work and closed the laptop. His gaze drifted toward the storage ring on his finger. Inside rested countless treasures: refined materials, existing artifacts, and the Originless Heaven Ark. The hidden ship remained perfectly concealed, impossible for ordinary people to detect.
Adrian looked at the ring for a moment. Tonight, he would continue his work. But before that, he needed to improve something closer to home: the defensive puppet he had left behind.
That evening, after dinner, Adrian returned to his room. His mother reminded him not to stay awake too late.
"Don't spend all night studying again," she said.
Adrian smiled. "I won't."
It was another small lie, but this time, it wasn't entirely false. He wouldn't be studying. After everyone went to sleep and the house grew silent, Adrian stood up and looked out the window. The night sky was clear. He didn't summon the Ark—not yet. First, he needed to retrieve the puppet.
He activated a concealment technique, and his presence vanished completely. He moved through the hallway like a shadow. The puppet was stored nearby, a silent guardian that had stood watch since the day Adrian created it. It had never fought, never destroyed anything, and never left its post. It simply watched over the people Adrian cared about.
He entered the room where the puppet stood. Its body was made of materials he had selected long ago. While it was advanced by human standards, it felt incomplete to Adrian now. His knowledge had grown, and his ability to refine materials had reached a new level.
Adrian placed his hand on the puppet’s frame. "You have protected them all this time."
The construct remained silent, lacking consciousness or emotion. It was simply his creation, yet Adrian treated it with respect. He took out the materials from his ring: Leviathan Heartstone, Abyssal Starsteel, Sky Sovereign Mithril, and Heavenly Feathersteel.
He activated the Origin Furnace, and the Originless Genesis Flame ignited. He worked calmly, dismantling the outer layers and weaving the new materials into the existing structure. The Abyssal Starsteel drastically reinforced the frame, making the guardian extremely durable and capable of resisting powerful attacks. The Leviathan Heartstone was integrated into its core, allowing it to restore damaged parts over time using stored life energy. The Mithril and Feathersteel were threaded through its limbs, allowing for faster, more fluid movements.
When he finished, the guardian looked different. Its structure was more robust, and its core was significantly more stable. Adrian placed his hand on its chest, and a new energy began to circulate through it. The guardian’s core emitted a faint, steady light. Its detection ability had greatly improved, allowing it to respond to threats more efficiently.
Adrian watched it silently. "This is enough."
The guardian didn't need to conquer worlds. Its purpose was here, protecting this small house. Adrian stored his tools and looked out at the night.
The guardian had finally received the strength it deserved. Tomorrow, he would move on to his own artifacts, but tonight, his family’s protector was ready.
