Napping Through the Harvest

I stood on the communal threshing floor, facing the scorn of the entire Wutong Village. My crime? Sleeping under the loquat tree during the busiest harvest of 1979. But they didn't understand! Ever since waking up from a fever, I had been hearing a crackling voice warning that "energy levels below 10% result in immediate elimination." To protect myself and my little brother Xiaobo, I had to conserve every ounce of strength. Let my reborn sister Rulan exhaust herself fighting for work points and scheming to marry the village's most promising man. I simply refused to lift a hoe. Enter Zhou Hanchen. He was my childhood rival, the village's strictest model worker, and the last person I expected to step forward and claim me as his bride to "take responsibility" for my rations. I thought he wanted to work me to the bone. Instead, he finds my stubborn laziness endearing, doing double shifts in the fields so I can rest. When my casual complaint about wanting better reception for my "system" leads him to start a radio repair business, my calorie-saving strategy accidentally turns him into the region's first tech tycoon. Will Rulan ever figure out why her ambitious schemes keep failing while I sleep my way to a prosperous life?
