My Second First-Class Funeral

Jadwiga Olenka lived a life of quiet desperation, watching her family crumble. First, her brilliant younger brother, Teodor, was crippled in a riding accident, his spirit dimming year by year. Then, her older sister, Stefania, succumbed to the Weeping Pox, an illness that could have been prevented if they hadn't been financially ruined by Teodor's medical care. Jadwiga died alone and furious, her only legacy a mountain of debt. She awakens twenty years in the past, not in her bed, but astride a prize-winning stallion mid-jump in the very race that will cripple Teodor. With a shriek and a prayer, she changes everything. Teodor is saved, but her heroic act attracts the chilling attention of Duke Borislav Volkov, the man whose political machinations led to their first ruin. Now, every attempt to avert one tragedy spawns another, each more absurd and deadly than the last. How can she save everyone when fate seems to have a sadistic sense of humor, and the man holding the executioner's axe is starting to look at her with something other than contempt?
