Chapter 6 of 35
The Ley-Line Nexus
528 words
The molten rock sizzled softly as the Warrior clone pushed the softened earth aside, creating an opening just wide enough for a man to pass through. A thick, cool vapor billowed from the newly unsealed chamber, smelling faintly of ancient water and crushed herbs—a stark contrast to the sulfur and ash of the ruins above.
Lylin stepped through the gap, flanked closely by the Scholar. The moment his feet touched the damp floor of the hidden room, a faint, soothing energy wrapped around his senses. The deep, lingering ache in his newly healed wound faded completely, replaced by a refreshing vitality.
Through the Scholar’s Spiritual Perception, the chamber exploded in vibrant, ethereal light. Thin streams of luminescent blue fluid flowed along carved stone channels in the floor, converging into a small, circular pool at the center of the room. At the far end stood a stone pedestal holding an ancient, metallic disc covered in intricate geometric etchings.
"The ley-line node is surprisingly intact," the Scholar clone reported, its voice calm and analytical as it walked toward the central pool. "This fluid is condensed spiritual dew. Absorbing it will permanently strengthen your physical foundation and accelerate energy restoration for future clone creations."
Lylin approached the pool. The liquid glowed with a soft, azure light, reflecting his dark eyes and determined expression.
SYSTEM NOTICE:
RESOURCE DETECTED: CONDENSED SPIRITUAL DEW (LOW-GRADE).
UPGRADE AVAILABLE: BASE ESTABLISHED - SINKHOLE SANCTUARY.
BENEFIT: DAILY ENERGY REGENERATION SPEED INCREASED BY 20%.
"Establish the base," Lylin commanded without hesitation.
The system interface expanded in his mind, casting a brief gold-and-silver pulse that washed over the entire chamber. The ancient runes along the walls flickered once, then aligned themselves with Lylin's consciousness. The subterranean cave was no longer just a temporary shelter; it had become his first official stronghold in the Immortal World.
The Scholar kneeled near the stone pedestal, running its fingers across the metallic disc. "Host, this transmission array is broken, but its framework is linked to the surface network of an ancient sect long turned to ash. With enough time and resources, I can repair it to monitor communications across the lower human realms."
Lylin nodded slowly, his mind racing with possibilities. A hidden base, a resource generator, a physical powerhouse, and a tactical intelligence operative—all within two days of his arrival. The invisible threads of his web were slowly extending.
"Prioritize repairing the array," Lylin ordered, turning to look back at the Warrior clone standing guard near the entrance. "Warrior, gather stone and seal the outer entrance to this chamber. Leave only a hidden ventilation shaft. No one enters or leaves without my explicit command."
Both clones executed their directives instantly, moving with synchronized efficiency. There was no argument, no hesitation, no doubt—only absolute, unified purpose.
Lylin walked to the edge of the spiritual pool and dipped his hands into the cool, glowing liquid. As the energy seeped through his skin, strengthening his body from the inside out, a cold, ruthless ambition burned bright within him. Above this sanctuary, eleven human worlds and eight Immortal realms bled and waged war, unaware that beneath their feet, an unseen puppeteer had just laid his foundation stone.
