I Ruined My Rival Because I Didn't Read the Patch Notes

Bavol, the most lethargic genius at the Paldarian Synthetics Institute, spent a whole year orchestrating the ultimate downfall of his bitter rival, Jelika. Believing she bullied his sister into a fatal Aether-Dive, Bavol suffered through the sheer exhaustion of infiltrating Jelika's lonely life. He ate her snacks, napped on her workshop couch, and pretended to be a sympathetic confidant until she fell in love and agreed to marry him. At their lavish engagement gala, he finally springs his trap: publicly stripping her of her Guild Wards and casting her out into the freezing rain. Triumphant, he prepares for a well-deserved nap - until his best friend mentions that his sister's Aether-Dive was actually a highly publicized System healing quest funded entirely by Jelika. Horrified to realize he skipped the server patch notes and just condemned his innocent, fiercely beloved fiancé to the local assassin's guild, Bavol is forced to do the one thing he hates most: cardio. Sprinting into the storm to take a poisoned knife meant for her, he must now grovel for his life. Can he win back the woman he broke before the poison - or her righteous fury - ends his naps forever?
