Heavens Strike Me If I Lose

Three years ago, He Chuan was the Mist-Piercing Pavilion’s greatest prodigy - until the heavens grew jealous of his immense talent and struck him with divine lightning, shattering his meridians. Now stripped of his rank in a humiliating public assembly, he is left with nothing but his prickly pride, a dumpling-shaped spirit badger named Baozi, and a jade pendant left by his missing mother. When his blood awakens Venerable Guci - a foul-mouthed, endlessly insulting ancient ghost trapped inside the jade - He Chuan is forced into a bizarre mentorship. Told in alternating third-person perspectives between the defensive youth and the grumpy spirit, the story follows He Chuan as he masters forgotten arts to violently slap the faces of every arrogant young master who dares mock him. Yet beneath the constant insults lies a heartwarming, protective bond. Guci is secretly searching for his runaway daughter who stole his legacy, while He Chuan desperately seeks his mother. As the grand tournament arrives, He Chuan prepares to shock the sect by summoning a heavenly tribulation mid-match. Will the two stubborn companions survive the lightning long enough to realize they've been searching for the exact same woman all along?
