In the shadow-dappled glades of Oakhaven, where the ancient Heartwood forest whispers secrets older than stone, lives Fionn, an unassuming apprentice woodcarver. Orphaned and quiet, Fionn's hands possess an uncanny sensitivity, not merely for shaping timber but for hearing the silent song of the forest itself. What no one suspects, not even Fionn himself, is that this connection is more than mere affinity; it is the resonance of a forgotten lineage. He is the last descendant of the Rootwardens, primordial beings who once wove the very fabric of the Wilderlands of Aerthos, now slumbering in myth. As the northern blight—a creeping, metallic empire—begins to gnaw at the edges of the Heartwood, disturbing its ancient spirits and threatening Oakhaven, Fionn finds his latent gifts stirring. He perceives the slumbering anima within gnarled oaks and moss-covered stones, able to coax them to life, to subtly shift the earth, and even call upon the forgotten sentinels of the deep woods.
