Dorlin is a gentle, fragile human adventurer who lacks the brute force of the orcs and the mining ingenuity of the gnomes. Burdened by a deep-seated fear of worthlessness, he takes on dangerous dungeon quests just to prove his right to exist. But when a routine expedition in a ruined human castle goes horribly wrong, Dorlin is left for dead, betrayed by his own kind. As his blood pools on the ancient stone floor, his desperate desire to protect others triggers an ancient, dormant power. A spectral, towering guardian manifests from his shadow—a ghostly protector that parries lethal blows and strikes with supernatural precision.
