Concubine of Ash and Iron

Major Corina wakes from a battlefield death to find herself in the body of Ninsianna, a low-ranking concubine in the brutal Ashurban Empire, moments from being executed. Fleeing through the gilded cage of the Imperial Harem, she has only one thought: survival. But survival isn't just for her - it's for Lugal, the frail younger brother the original Ninsianna died trying to protect. To save him from the clutches of a cruel emperor, Corina must trade her silks for steel, using modern tactical genius to manipulate court factions and turn the empire's own armies into her pawns. Her unorthodox strategies soon capture the attention of Azarmêdh, the enigmatic and powerful High Diviner, who sees in her a mind unlike any other. As he lends her his support, a terrifying, soul-consuming pestilence known as the 'Grey Creep' spreads from the borderlands, threatening to consume everything she's fighting for. Can a 21st-century soldier outwit an ancient empire, or will she learn that the power to save her world is born from the same darkness that seeks to destroy it?
