This bizarre, alternate world blends Feudal Japan's rigid honor with the lawlessness of a high-seas pirate era. In HoyPond, anthropomorphic beast-kin exist solely as enslaved labor. Scarred by his past helplessness, Buck refuses to be a victim again. Armed with a rare affinity for Chi cultivation, he masters martial arts, learning to channel explosive energy directly through his body and into his weapons. To survive this brutal oceanic frontier, Buck adopts a ruthless philosophy: total annihilation of his enemies. Yet, behind his cold fury lies a crippling fear of intimacy; he treats potential allies as tools to avoid the pain of losing them.
