A Meeting in the Rain

Amid the sun-drenched, ancient clay walls of Khiva, Uzbekistan, Kamilla hides a fracturing soul behind an infectious, cheerful facade. Her world is a carefully constructed illusion of joy to mask the crushing guilt of her brother's disappearance years ago. But when an unexpected, violent deluge floods the desert city, she collides with Dilshod - a cynical, wounded former archaeological guide haunted by his own failures. Forced to seek shelter together as a sudden, localized storm begins to tear through the region, they discover a mysterious, ancient compass that reacts only to their combined touch. This relic points toward lost oasis ruins rumored to hold the truth of what Kamilla lost. To survive the treacherous journey across the Kyzylkum Desert, Kamilla must confront her desperate fear of abandonment, while Dilshod must learn to trust again. Together, they must brave both armed antiquities smugglers and the raging elements, realizing that their chance encounter under the pouring rain was no accident.
