The funeral is a quiet, freezing affair. Standing over two empty graves, Riksa buries her and her younger brother Yenik's pasts, cementing their escape. Sold to the Zhelezo Combine for agonizing experiments, the quietly ruthless survivor drags Yenik deep into the Stuzha Expanse - a magically frozen taiga where hunters vanish. Told in alternating third-person perspectives between Riksa and the beast of the woods, they discover a warded, hidden cabin and its hulking occupant, Urdak. Mutated into a grotesque, permanent half-wolf form by the same labs, Urdak is bound to Riksa by an engineered, entirely platonic blood-tether. The monstrous giant offers them genuine sanctuary and gentle care. But when Zhelezo trackers ambush the cabin and sneer at Urdak as a 'failed abomination,' Riksa violently snaps. Her ruthless defense of him triggers his healing, breaking his feral haze. As they slaughter the intruders together, a terrifying twist is revealed: Riksa's escape and the monster's legend aren't two separate plotlines. The Combine let her go because her blood-tether was the only way to track Patient Zero. The magical forest isn't a refuge; it's a macro-containment zone.
