Chapter 6: A Home Shared
1.6k words
Aya’s voice trembled, a faint whisper in the quiet room. "He sent an email last week. After all these years." She hugged her knees tighter, her gaze fixed on the worn carpet. "Just a line. 'Aya, it's your father. I'd like to talk.'"
Yoongi listened, his expression softening further. He reached out, his hand gently covering hers where it rested on her knee. His touch was warm, grounding.
"What did you do?" he asked, his voice low, without judgment.
"Nothing," she admitted, a dry laugh escaping her. "I just stared at it. Deleted it. Then retrieved it from the trash. Again and again."
Unseen burdens weighed on her shoulders. Her past wasn't just a story; it was a living, breathing thing that still clung to her.
"It's okay not to know what to do," Yoongi murmured, his thumb stroking the back of her hand. "It's a lot to process."
Silence settled between them, a comfortable quiet now, not the strained one from earlier. Aya felt a strange relief. Telling him had lifted a part of the weight.
His presence was a comfort, an unexpected anchor. He hadn't flinched. He hadn't pitied her. He had simply listened, and understood.
Minutes stretched into a soft eternity. Yoongi’s eyes drifted around her small apartment. The sparse furniture, the single suitcase partially unpacked in the corner. He knew she lived alone. He knew her struggles.
A thought solidified in his mind, bold and clear.
"Aya," he began, pulling her attention back to him. His grip on her hand tightened slightly. "I have an idea."
She looked at him, a question in her eyes.
"My house," he stated, a directness in his tone. "It's too big for one person. It's… empty." He paused, searching for the right words. "I want you to come live there. With me."
Aya blinked. Her mind reeled, trying to grasp the suddenness of his proposal. Live with him?
Her jaw dropped slightly. "Yoongi, I…"
"Hear me out," he interrupted gently. "You're living in this cramped place. You're alone. I'm alone. We clearly… connect." His gaze held hers, unwavering. "It's not just about practicality. I want you there. I want to know you're safe. I want to know you're not facing everything by yourself anymore."
Hesitation clouded her features. Her independence, hard-won and fiercely guarded, bristled. Moving in with someone, especially a man she hadn't known long, felt like surrendering control. It felt like vulnerability.
"I can't just… impose," she finally managed, pulling her hand away, suddenly feeling exposed.
"You wouldn't be imposing," he insisted, leaning closer. "It would be… sharing. We have plenty of space. You can have your own room, your own privacy. We can make it work."
Aya chewed on her lip. His offer was tempting, almost dangerously so. The loneliness she often felt, especially after a long day, was a constant ache. His home was beautiful, she remembered from her brief visit. Grand, yet isolated.
Perhaps.
Her gaze searched his face, looking for any hint of a joke, any insincerity. She found none. Only a steady, earnest concern.
"I… I don't know, Yoongi," she confessed, her voice barely audible. "It's a big step."
"It is," he agreed. "But it's one I want to take. With you." His eyes bore into hers, a silent plea. "Think about it. No more rent. No more feeling isolated. We can look out for each other."
The practical side of her weighed the benefits. Financial relief. A safer environment. But the emotional side was what truly swayed her. His eyes. The warmth of his hand. The way he had listened.
She took a deep breath. "Okay," she said, the word a soft exhalation. "Okay, I'll… I'll do it."
A smile, genuine and bright, lit up Yoongi’s face. Relief washed over his features. He leaned forward, pulling her into a gentle hug. She stiffened for a moment, then melted into his embrace, her arms circling his waist. His scent, a subtle mix of sandalwood and something uniquely him, filled her senses.

Packing was surprisingly quick. Aya didn't own much, a testament to her transient life. Yoongi arrived with his car, a sleek black sedan, and helped her load the few boxes and her single suitcase.
"Is this everything?" he asked, a hint of surprise in his voice as he looked at the sparse contents of her apartment.
"Everything that matters," she replied, a faint smile playing on her lips.
He simply nodded, understanding. He knew her story now. Her lightness of possessions mirrored her lightness of roots.
The drive to his house felt different this time. Not just a visit, but a journey to a new beginning. Her heart fluttered with a mix of anxiety and excitement.
Inside his sprawling home, he led her to a spacious bedroom at the end of a quiet hallway. It had large windows overlooking a lush garden, a private bathroom, and a walk-in closet.
"It's beautiful, Yoongi," she murmured, running her hand over the polished wooden desk. "Too much, honestly."
"Nothing is too much for you, Aya," he countered, his eyes holding a depth she couldn't quite decipher.
Unpacking was a small task. She arranged her few books, her clothes. Yoongi hovered nearby, offering to help, sharing quiet jokes. The atmosphere was light, easy.
Later that evening, after a simple dinner Yoongi had cooked – a delicious pasta dish – they found themselves on the large, comfortable couch in the living room. A soft jazz tune played from hidden speakers.
Aya felt a relaxation she hadn't known in years. His presence was comforting, a quiet strength beside her.
His hand found hers again, this time more deliberate, intertwining their fingers. Her pulse quickened.
He turned to her, his dark eyes searching hers in the dim light. His thumb stroked her knuckles.
"I'm glad you're here, Aya," he whispered, his voice a low rumble.
Her breath caught. "Me too, Yoongi."
He leaned closer, the air between them charged with unspoken desires. His gaze dropped to her lips. She felt a magnetic pull, a warmth spreading through her veins.
Slowly, deliberately, he closed the distance. His lips met hers, soft at first, a gentle inquiry.
Aya responded instinctively, her own lips parting slightly. The kiss deepened, a tender exploration that quickly ignited into something more fervent. Her hand came up, cupping his jaw, feeling the slight stubble beneath her palm.
His other hand moved to her waist, pulling her closer until no space remained between them. She could feel the solid warmth of his body against hers, the rapid beat of his heart mirroring her own. A shiver ran through her, a delicious tremor.
The scent of him enveloped her, intoxicating. His lips moved over hers with an urgency that both thrilled and softened her. She tasted mint, and something uniquely Yoongi.
Pulling back slightly, he rested his forehead against hers, his breathing heavy. His eyes, dark and intense, looked into hers.
"Aya," he breathed, his voice raw with emotion. "I think… I'm falling for you."
Her heart hammered against her ribs. The confession hung in the air, a fragile, beautiful thing. She wanted to respond, but words failed her.
He kissed her again, a deeper, more possessive kiss this time. Her body arched into his, a silent affirmation. He tasted like desire, like longing, like a future she hadn't dared to imagine.
His hands slid down her back, drawing her even tighter against him. She could feel the undeniable hardness of his desire, pressing against her, a potent promise. Her own body responded, an ache blooming low in her belly.
Then, a sudden, sharp ring shattered the moment. Not his phone. Hers. It vibrated loudly from her bag on the floor, an insistent, jarring sound.
Yoongi pulled back, his jaw tight, a frustrated groan rumbling in his chest. His eyes, still dark with passion, flickered to her bag.
"Ignore it," he murmured, leaning in for another kiss.
But the name flashing on her screen, even in the dim light, was unmistakable. Her father. The one who had suddenly reappeared after twelve years of silence. The one she had told Yoongi about just hours ago.
Her body froze, the sensual warmth replaced by a sudden, chilling dread. The phone kept ringing, a relentless summons. Her past, literally, calling her into the present, interrupting the fragile, new intimacy blooming between her and Yoongi. She looked from the phone to Yoongi’s intense, waiting gaze, a cold knot tightening in her stomach. What did he want? And what would she do now that she was living under Yoongi's roof, her new life already threatened by the ghosts of her old one?
She stared at the incoming call, her hand hovering over her bag. This was it. The moment she had dreaded, yet somehow anticipated, had arrived. The past was not just a story anymore; it was demanding to be answered. Her finger twitched, hovering over the screen, poised between accepting and rejecting the call, knowing either choice would irrevocably alter everything. The phone rang again, a piercing sound in the sudden silence, and she knew she couldn't ignore it any longer, not with Yoongi watching her, his silent question hanging heavy in the air, connecting their shared future directly to her unresolved past.
Her father's name pulsed on the screen, a relentless demand, and Aya felt a tremor run through her. This call wasn't just an intrusion; it was a detonation, threatening to shatter the fragile new world she was building, right here, with Yoongi, who watched her with a mixture of desire and growing concern, sensing the storm approaching. She had to answer. She just didn't know what would happen when she did.
