The Runaway's Resonance
By @john1208
I just wanted a nap. When I transmigrated into Blood of the Iron Cartel, my only goal was to coast through life as the pampered fiancée of Maksim Chernov, the underworld's most ruthless boss. But at our engagement gala, someone planted a localized implosion device on Maksim and pinned the assassination attempt on me. Grabbing my little brother, Pasha, I fled into the smog-choked underbelly of Kosvarg. Now, disguised as a male grease-monkey named Rudi, I spend my days dodging cartel enforcers and Maksim’s terrifyingly obsessive manhunt. But my brilliant escape has a fatal flaw: nobody mentioned that a transmigrator's soul decays without proximity to the novel's protagonist. I have exactly three hundred days before I cease to exist. I can't outrun the countdown, but going back means facing a yandere mafia boss who wants to lock me in a gilded cage forever. When a factory collapse forces me to use my signature kinetic-dampening skill to save Pasha, Maksim’s hounds finally pick up my scent. Can I find the real traitor and cure my decaying soul before Maksim chains me to his side until death?
