I Refuse to Abandon the Chained General
By @john1208
Hounded through the labyrinthine corridors of the Umbral Bastion, Nirva plunges into the deepest dungeon to escape her brutal overseers - and lands at the feet of Dazkar, the chained general of the fallen Qadiris. In the web-novel she read before transmigrating, Dazkar is destined to break his bonds and drown the world in a sea of blood. But seeing him treated like a starved, tortured slave, Nirva's dangerously kind heart takes over. Blackmailed into acting as a spy for the citadel's cruel warden, she instead spends her days tending to Dazkar's wounds, enduring his death threats, and stubbornly refusing to leave his side. While Nirva believes she is slowly healing a broken man and altering his apocalyptic fate, she is utterly unaware of the monster she is nurturing. Dazkar is indeed healing, but his fractured mind has come to a terrifying conclusion: the only way to keep his singular source of warmth safe is to slaughter their captors and lock her in a cage of gold where she can never leave him. As a hidden rebellion stirs in the shadows, will Nirva's boundless compassion save the world, or will it be the very thing that seals her in a gilded prison?
