Forging the Heavens in a Villainess's Skin
By @john1208
The novel opens mid-battle as Shirin, a lowly bellows-apprentice destined to die in chapter three of 'The Ashen Skies', desperately fends off a beast raid. During a catastrophic spiritual explosion, her soul is violently swapped with Roshanak, the realm's cruelest noblewoman. When the dust settles, the real Roshanak is dead in Shirin's frail, unmourned body, leaving Shirin trapped in the villainess's skin. Weighed down by a deep melancholy for her stolen, simple life, the excessively kind Shirin abandons all political schemes to focus entirely on metallurgy. She wants only to forge the legendary Anashira Crucible to purify the realm's decaying leylines. Her bizarre self-sacrificing nature completely derails the plot. The original male leads, mistaking her tragic grace for a deeply complex long-game, become entirely obsessed with her. Most frustrated is Daryush, the original scheming villain, who views her as his ultimate intellectual rival and slowly falls madly in love. He weaves elaborate traps and drops seductive hints, only for Shirin to completely miss them, offer him a warm cup of tea, and walk back to her anvil. As the leyline collapse hastens, can Shirin forge salvation before her stolen body burns out?
