Chrono-Fracture
By @john1208
Captain Kaelen Vance, a war-hardened temporal marine, woke to a future 500 years beyond his own, his cryo-sleep ending in a world bathed in an unsettling, perpetual twilight. His mission: activate the 'Chronoscape Shield' - humanity's last hope against the rampaging Chronosworn Hegemony, an enemy that threatened to unmake time itself. But the sprawling megacities Kaelen remembered were silent ruins, devoid of life, yet humming with a faint, discordant energy. The Hegemony's legions were absent; no skirmishes, no active conflict. This wasn't the shattered battlefield he expected, but a tomb. As Kaelen navigated the ghostly landscape, he uncovered fragmented data, hinting at a 'Temporal Dissolution' - a reality where the war hadn't ended, but twisted into an insidious, unseen force, woven into the very fabric of existence. The Chronosworn weren't defeated; they had become the environment, an ambient dread. His mission parameters now felt chillingly irrelevant. The counter-measure he carried? Its true purpose, he horrifyingly realized, was not to defeat an enemy army, but to sever the past from a future already consumed.
