The Recaller
By @john1208
In a world meticulously engineered for perpetual harmony, "The Great Reset" is a recurring event, a societal cleanse that purges all personal and historical memories, ensuring citizens wake to a blissful, untainted present. But Elara Vance is immune. Every laugh, every tear, every forgotten atrocity echoes in her mind, a cacophony of lost timelines. She lives as a chrono-ghost, haunting a world that constantly forgets its past - and her. The sterile, gleaming cities and the ever-optimistic faces of her neighbors are a gilded cage, for Elara sees the recurring patterns of manipulation, the vanished faces, the whispered lies that resurface under new guises. The weight of remembered betrayals, of loved ones she’s seen erased from existence again and again, is an unbearable burden. A new Reset looms, its countdown ticking in her bones, threatening to sweep away not just the present, but a fragile thread of forbidden knowledge Elara has meticulously uncovered - a glitch in the system, a single name, a truth that could unravel the architects of this enforced amnesia. Can she protect this sliver of reality before it, too, is consigned to the collective void?
