A Calculated Warmth
By @john1208
The rain at the funeral was the perfect cover for my tears - not of grief, but of cold, calculating rage. Ignazio Vella, the ruthless titan of Oslavia's elite, had crushed my boutique resort empire, leaving me drowning in massive medical debt for my sister. So, I plotted my revenge. I infiltrated his cliffside fortress as a bubbly, subservient nanny to his chronically ill daughter. Ignazio is a traumatized, icy single father whose ex-wife abandoned them. He expected a simple servant. Instead, I feed him a meticulously crafted illusion of sunshine. Through late-night home-cooked meals, bright smiles, and a scruffy stray dog named Fiku that I smuggled in to make his daughter laugh, I am slowly making myself the sole source of dopamine in his bleak life. My plan is working flawlessly. He is becoming fiercely addicted to my presence, even viciously destroying the career of a glamorous supermodel who dared to treat me like dirt. But as Ignazio's obsession deepens and he offers a grand reward to wipe out my debt, I realize the horrifying truth. The reward is a trap. He knows exactly who I am. Will I burn down his empire, or succumb to the intoxicating cage I built for myself?
