Forged in Silence, Bound in Ash
By @john1208
Lidien was the ruthless jewel of the Qel-Zhar Foundry, until she stole the confidential blueprints of her impoverished rival, Fennar, to save her little brother. Her reward? Being burned alive by the very syndicate boss she served. Awakened moments before a devastating public demotion at the Grand Exhibition, Lidien chooses a new path. She coldly accepts the humiliation, stepping into the shadows to become Fennar's unseen, aggressively devoted shield. She systematically slaughters his saboteurs, anonymously funds his workshop, and violently clears his path to glory - all while maintaining her icy, calculating facade. But Lidien's meticulous plans unravel when the notoriously stoic Fennar traces the trail of destroyed enemies back to her, getting thoroughly flustered by her intense, silent devotion. Worse, Lidien discovers a shocking truth: the alchemical laws of Resonance she was taught were a lie. Their conflicting magic didn't make them fated rivals; it meant they were soul-anchors, and Fennar's stolen blueprints were never for glory, but to save her brother. As her past murderer closes in, can Lidien master these forbidden rules to protect the man she loves before her shadowy interventions are dragged into the light?
