The Sluggard's Phantom Harvest
By @john1208
An ordinary, quiet morning of sleeping in was all Dr. Sarine ever wanted. Instead, she woke up coughing blood in a freezing woodshed, watching her greedy in-laws casually toss her hard-earned university admission letter into the stove. Transmigrated into the body of a sickly woman left for dead during the oppressive Iron Decade, the perpetually lazy genius decides the fastest way back to bed is to permanently eliminate her problems. Relying on a magical farming pocket-dimension and an energetic phantom sable that hunts rare mountain ginseng, Sarine effortlessly feeds her children and bankrolls her disgraced engineer husband, Tavner. Her face-slapping of the Dal family is swift, absolute, and mostly orchestrated from a reclining chair. Yet underneath her melancholic, comfortable new life lies a terrifying misunderstanding. Sarine believes her spirit pet is simply foraging from untamed peaks. She doesn't realize her magical space is spatially linked to the corrupt governor's private reserves, and her casual hoarding has triggered a state-wide manhunt. With Elder Murna secretly weaponizing Tavner's suppressed blueprints for a rebellion and the secret police closing in, can Sarine protect her peaceful naps, or will her accidental mega-heist bring the entire republic crashing down?
