The Sunderglass Heart
By @john1208
Elias Vance is a prodigious chronotech weaver in the sprawling, yet decaying, city-state of Veridia Prime. A master of bending localized temporal fields and infusing them into complex arcane constructs, Elias’s brilliance is unparalleled - but it comes at a devastating cost. Plagued by the Sunderglass Heart, a rare genetic blight that slowly crystallizes his very essence from within, he is living on borrowed, fractured moments. The disease grants him flashes of insight into temporal mechanics but promises an agonizing, irreversible end before his thirtieth year.
In a world where elaborate runic engines power towering spires and magical science dictates societal hierarchy, Elias’s fight for life is a desperate, intellectual battle against his own biology and the rigid temporal laws of existence. He weaves intricate temporal anchors, hacks into ancient ley-line networks, and even delves into forbidden temporal paradoxes, pushing his genius to its limits to reverse the irreversible. But as his body crumbles, powerful factions within Veridia Prime - eager to exploit his unique temporal insights or eliminate a dangerous anomaly - begin to close in, turning his personal race against time into a treacherous struggle for survival against a city as fragile and brilliant as himself.
