The Last Solstice Is A Chore
By @john1208
All I, Jadwiga Leszczyn, have ever wanted is a quiet life dedicated to my arcane research, subsidized by my family's comfortable wealth. My days are for dusty tomes and intricate theories, not... destiny. That changes when a posthumous letter from my parents arrives with a cryptic astrolabe and a single, terrifying instruction: run. Suddenly, the Vigilants of the One True Word, a fanatical order I'd only read about, are burning down my city to find me. They call me the Solstice Queen, a heretical bloodline with the power to shatter their dogma and reshape the fractured lands of the Ostrek Combine. Now, I'm on the run with Duszan, my infuriatingly silent and capable bodyguard, who apparently swore an oath to my parents to protect me with his life. He's convinced of my sacred duty, while I'm convinced this is all a catastrophic misunderstanding. The prophecy speaks of uniting the lands, but the more I study it, the more I suspect its true meaning is far stranger and more dangerous than a simple coronation. Can I unravel the truth before the Vigilants 'purify' me and the whole world with me?
