Sleeping Through the Auspicious Marriage
By @john1208
When the cowardly Myat fled her arranged xung hỉ marriage to an impoverished scholar given three months to live, her chronically lazy stepsister Tuyen was shoved into the bridal palanquin. Tuyen didn't mind; she just wanted a quiet place to nap. She wakes up somewhere impossible - trapped inside a giant, hollowed-out ceremonial wedding drum being carried up a cliffside to her new home. Upon arriving, she finds her new husband, Zayar, coughing up blood on his deathbed. Annoyed by the loud noise interrupting her rest, Tuyen uses her secret ability: she inhales his lethal affliction, purifies the toxins into a harmless medicinal mist, and goes right back to sleep.
When she finally wakes, the "impoverished" scholar is glowing with health, has legally transferred the deeds of twelve merchant fleets into her name, and is currently threatening to break the legs of anyone who speaks too loudly near her bedroom. Zayar isn't a poor student - he is the disguised Lord of the Monsoon Fleet in hiding. Now, an eccentric elder is using their marriage to upend the political landscape, while Zayar misinterprets Tuyen's profound laziness as tactical genius. Can Tuyen survive the constant assassination attempts without having to actually get out of bed?
