The Forgotten Weaver and the Iron Prince
By @john1208
Every morning, Tashirin brews the spiced tea exactly how her father likes it, hoping to finally earn a single kind word. Instead, her sweet-mouthed adopted sister Nishari shatters the teapot and cries victim, getting Tashirin thrown out into the monsoon. The Vandat family has always treated Tashirin like dirt, blaming her birth for the magical feedback storm that claimed her mother's life. Shivering in the streets with only her six-legged stone-salamander for company, Tashirin expects to perish - until the Emperor's ruthless, blood-soaked uncle’s carriage stops before her. Prince Khavar doesn't execute her; he wraps her in his own velvet cloak and takes her to a palace of endless pastries and gentle praise. The terrified, stubborn weaver soon uncovers a bizarre truth: Khavar isn't acting out of random pity. He is bound by an ancient pact left behind by his revered childhood mentor - who happens to be Tashirin's previous incarnation. As Tashirin cautiously blossoms in a home that actually cherishes her, her biological family watches the national Omni-Glass broadcast, expecting to see Nishari crowned as the realm's greatest young inventor. Who is really behind the masterpiece that will shock the empire?
