The Painter's Anvil
By @john1208
Omid wakes up inside the sealed heart of the Qabad Citadel's plasma-furnace - an impossible, lethal environment. Even more impossible? He is now trapped in the body of Rostam, a reviled, bottom-tier Restoration Blacksmith. In a magitech society ruled by destructive combat classes, Rostam is mocked as a glorified mechanic. But Omid is a proud, prickly artistic genius at heart. Refusing to be utterly useless, he tests a loophole in the system: he uses his blacksmithing hammer to strike enchanted pigments into a shredded, discarded canvas. The impossible happens. The system registers the art as 'repaired gear,' and the ancient warrior depicted within steps out, boasting the stats of a deity. Through this bizarre mechanic, Omid can infinitely scale his power by restoring forgotten art. The story unfolds through alternating perspectives between the prickly Omid and Ziya, an elite combat prodigy. When the Crimson Simurgh terrorist faction attacks the academy, Omid is forced to unleash a masterpiece that single-handedly obliterates the invasion. But his shocking victory paints a massive target on his back, and now rival nations are deploying elite spy cells to kidnap the 'God-Smith.' Can he forge an army fast enough to protect his freedom?
