In a grungier 90s Earth, where mutant fear simmers beneath grunge anthems and neon lights, Vergil exists as an enigma. Born with the X-Gene, he manipulates shadows into tangible weapons and shields, a power he uses to silently dismantle anti-mutant operations from the fringes. His past is a self-imposed void, every memory a painful echo, but a new, more sinister organization - the Purifiers - threatens to expose every mutant on the planet. Vergil's desperate desire to remain unseen clashes with the rising tide of violence, forcing him into a reluctant alliance with a nascent group of mutants. He must decide if his shadow-bound existence is enough to protect a world that hates him, or if he needs to step into the harsh light to save it all.
