The Librarian's Fatal Wager
By @john1208
Toma Mirkovic stands in the freezing rain at his brother's funeral, mocked by the very elite Hunters who left his sibling to die. Awakened with the supposedly useless 'Librarian' class, Toma's only ability is reading the tragic lore and hidden mechanics of monsters. Condemned to a life of dusting tomes in the Krag Bastion, his gentle, overly forgiving nature makes him an easy target for abuse. But beneath his meek class lies a terrifying loophole: the Gallows Wager. If Toma bets his own life on a battle's outcome, the System grants him the exact anomalous power needed to win - a 100% guaranteed victory that scales infinitely to match the threat. When the Bastion's strongest guild is swallowed by the S-Rank Weeping Chasm, Toma steps into the abyss alone. He wagers his soul against the dungeon's apex predator and obliterates it, saving those who despise him. Instead of a hero's welcome, the media brands him a demon wielding forbidden arts. As the world turns against him, Toma's lore-gathering reveals a horrifying truth: the historical Calamity that destroyed the old world and the System granting his wagers are the exact same entity. Can Toma out-gamble a god before humanity is cashed out?
