Return of the Jade Exile
By @john1208
I'm spitting blood onto the rain-slicked docks of Paldora, knuckles bruised from fighting off three smugglers to protect my three-legged mastiff, Grit. That's when the old jade pendant is ripped from my neck, catching the neon light. Less than twenty-four hours later, the Morvante family helicopters arrive. Dragged back to the glittering estates of Alta-Riva, I'm paraded as the pathetic, uncultured daughter, ruthlessly mocked by high society and Lyssia, the flawless fake heiress who took my place. They think I'm just a dirty immigrant worker with a volatile temper. They don't know I've spent the last decade aggressively shadow-investing my meager dock wages, building a secret fortune. Alongside Cielo, a fiercely protective, ousted socialite who matches my broken edges, I begin buying up the elites' precious assets to wipe the arrogant smiles off their faces. But digging into the Morvante databanks uncovers a devastating, melancholic truth: I wasn't stolen. My six-year-old self orchestrated my own exile, leaving behind the pendant and digital breadcrumbs so I could return with enough capital to survive. Will the crushing emotional weight of my past self's sacrifice break me, or can we finally forge a hopeful future from the ashes of their empire?
