IF HOMSAR'S DAUGHTER HAD A NETFLIX DOCUMENTARY
By @Fizz
In the bizarre, physics-defying landscape of Free Country, USA, fourteen-year-old McKayla 'Macchiato' Up is the only person on Earth who can translate the surreal, gravity-resistant ramblings of her father, Homsar. While Homsar floats through life singing about blue-berry pies and bowler hats, Macchiato carries a silent, heavy burden: she desperately craves a normal, structured family, a trauma born from a childhood spent translating nonsense while other kids had normal parents. Armed with a shaky camcorder and a dream of validation, her cynical yet fiercely loyal friend Helvetica Cardgage begins filming Macchiato’s daily life for a mockumentary-style expose. What starts as a hilarious, PG-rated reality TV project quickly turns into a high-stakes quest. When a ruthless corporate developer threatens to demolish Homsar's favorite 'deep dark hole,' Macchiato must use her unique linguistic cheat to unite the neighborhood, step out of her father's bizarre shadow, and prove that her family's nonsense is worth saving.
