Dead Water Paradox
By @john1208
Renzo Corbal was perfectly content wasting his days sleeping in the cliffside town of Punta Coral, much to the disgust of his powerful in-laws, the Castillo family. But while dodging punches in a seaside tavern brawl, a bleeding stranger crashes through the window, shoving a glowing relic into Renzo’s hands with a final, gasping warning of an impending megaflood. Sacrificing his peace and spending every coin he has, the lazy genius secretly retrofits an abandoned dreadnought into a heavily armed, fully automated ark so he can survive without lifting a finger. His in-laws laugh, calling him a paranoid parasite - until the ocean rears up and violently swallows the continent. Now, the surviving Castillos are drowning, begging for a spot on the ship they scorned. Renzo would rather leave them to the sharks, but the relic’s System promises immense firepower and automated upgrades for every soul rescued. There’s just one catch: the 'Salvation Tokens' act as a blaring sonar beacon to the abyssal horrors hunting in the new world ocean. With a double agent sabotaging his ship from within and an unspoken love trapped among his enemies, will Renzo’s laziness finally get him killed, or will he outsmart the deadly system?
