The Scent of a Midnight Mistake
By @john1208
It all started with a bizarre, anonymous package containing a hotel key and a promise to fund my ruined botanical research. Naturally, thanks to a smudged brass plaque on the door, I walked into Room 717 instead of 711. One spectacular, chaotic night later, I panicked, slipped out at dawn, and accidentally left behind my silk scarf infused with my signature night-blooming zatar perfume. Now, I have a new job to pay the bills: Chief Executive Secretary to Vashir Zandor, Qalani's most terrifying and overworked magitek magnate. The job is exhausting, but my boss is a surprisingly sweet, completely helpless workaholic who relies on me to function, while my dramatic file-clerk sidekick Piroz keeps me sane with endless office gossip. But there's a massive catch. Vashir is obsessively pouring his corporate resources into hunting down the 'mysterious phantom' from his hotel room. As we navigate deadly workplace sabotage from a rival whose tragic motives might actually be justified, our daily office banter slowly blossoms into a genuine, heartwarming bond. But how long can I keep my hyper-competent facade intact before I accidentally wear that exact same zatar perfume to the office?
