A Resonance of Echoed Minds
By @john1208
Dr. Levente Arpad was a man who understood the mind as a machine of electrochemical signals, nothing more. After a fatal lab accident, he awakens in a new world as a young acolyte named Olen, at the funeral of a brilliant but disgraced mage - a man he slowly realizes was his own previous incarnation. In the Dominion of Kovás, magic is not studied but received, a divine gift granted through prayer to the Silent Patrons. To Olen, these 'prayers' are just structured data inputs into a cosmic operating system. Armed with his knowledge of neural networks and logic gates, he begins to treat spellcraft not as worship, but as programming, creating self-modifying prayer-arrays that achieve effects the high priests deem heretical. His guide is Ilona, the 'Lament' of his former self, a woman bound by sacred oath to his legacy and the only one who sees the man he was within the boy he is now. As they grow closer, Olen must untangle the web his past self wove, but was this grand experiment for the sake of magical revolution, or was it all a desperate, calculated plan to love one woman again?
