Christopher, a sharp-witted but seemingly ordinary scholar, finds his calculated life upended when a forgotten prophecy resurfaces in the medieval realm of Alfáin. With no magic of his own in a world where power dictates survival, he's thrust into a perilous quest for the legendary 'Heartstone of Aethel'. Whispers tell of a spreading blight that turns magic users into mindless husks, threatening to consume Alfáin. Christopher must outmaneuver ancient forces and cunning mages, relying only on his intellect to protect the few he cares for. But can a man without power truly save a world steeped in it, especially when the path demands sacrifices he never anticipated? His journey will unravel not just the blight's origin, but the very nature of magic itself.
