Blood in the Sand, Letters in the Wind
By @john1208
Kanza Vayan’s escape from the suffocating, treacherous Vayan Syndicate begins with a high-speed desert chase. To throw off the family hounds, the hot-tempered runaway makes a desperate choice: swapping jackets and ID tags with a stranded, unconscious drifter. Seeking refuge, Kanza stumbles into the Hollow-Rock Inn, a rugged desert waystation run by Oakh, a quiet man with sad eyes and a lethal, hidden past. In the dusty simplicity of the inn, Kanza’s heartbreak over their family's betrayal slowly heals through a profound, unspoken platonic brotherhood with Oakh. But the low-stakes escapism is violently interrupted. The stolen identity belongs to Dalko, a cynical courier carrying stolen military secrets, and his enemies have tracked the ID to the inn. As the hideaway erupts into a fast-paced battleground, Kanza, Oakh, and the real Dalko - who arrives seeking revenge but becomes a crucial ally - must hold the line. After the smoke clears, Kanza returns to the city to dismantle the syndicate from within, sustained only by months of encrypted radio letters with Oakh. When the cartel finally corners Kanza, will the quiet innkeeper leave his sanctuary to help finish the fight?
