His Shadow's Heir
By @john1208
Annelise Vosse has spent four years building a quiet, safe life for her son, Finn, in the misty coastal town of Porthaven. Her world is small but full of love, a stark contrast to the one-night whirlwind romance that gave her a child but left her with a phantom ache of rejection. That is, until the phantoms of the past return. Stellan Korvaag, the man she never thought she'd see again, reappears, not as the brooding artist she remembers, but as the scion of an immensely powerful and secretive family. An arcane inheritance clause, triggered by a DNA test, has named four-year-old Finn his sole heir. Stellan offers her a world of security and opportunity for their son, but it comes at a price: moving into his family's isolated, atmospheric estate, a place where whispers cling to the walls and every kindness feels conditional. Forced to co-parent under the watchful eye of Stellan's enigmatic grandmother, Annelise must navigate a world of suffocating tradition and unspoken rules. Can she and Stellan overcome their conflicting worlds to build a real family, or will the gilded cage of his legacy consume them and their son?
