The Imperial Accident Investigator
By @john1208
When a grand pavilion collapses and crushes the Emperor's favorite consort, the prestigious Shen clan is blamed for angering the heavens. Banished to the brutal Mud-Swallow Quarry, Shen Yutang wakes up just as a 'natural' mudslide is about to bury her alive. But Yutang is a modern forensic structural engineer, and she can perfectly read the stress fractures in the earth. After using rudimentary physics to divert the disaster and save the village, she realizes the terrifying truth. In the Tianqiao Dynasty, the elite use 'curses' and 'accidents' to cover up calculated assassinations. Armed with material science and a ruthless mind for reverse-engineering disasters, Yutang begins dismantling the empire's perfect crimes. Her terrifying ability to read crime scenes from mere rubble catches the eye of Wei Zongyuan, the cynical commander of the Emperor's secret police, who realizes she is the ultimate weapon against his political rivals. As they form a deadly alliance, the line between investigator and target blurs. Can a woman armed only with the laws of physics survive a court where exposing the truth is the highest form of treason?
