Simmering Regrets and Ticking Clocks
By @john1208
It started as a perfectly ordinary, miserable morning. I burned my toast, complained to my cat about the endless Kravikan rain, stepped off the curb to buy some milk, and got instantly flattened by a runaway steam-carriage. The next thing I know, I'm waking up five years in the past. Back then, I was a selfish brat who accidentally crushed my childhood friend Varek's legs in a reckless subterranean treasure hunt, only to abandon him out of guilt and run off with Jolvan - the shiny, manipulative scumbag who eventually ruined my life. Not this time. I am older, infinitely more tired, and completely out of patience for Jolvan's theatrics. Instead of joining his faction, I marched straight to Varek's dusty workshop, tied on an apron, and started making a hearty spiced stew. My plan is simple: aggressively care for the stoic tinkerer, keep his belly full, and systematically destroy Jolvan's reputation on the side. The only hitch? The magical backlash of the carriage crash left a glowing timer on my wrist. I have exactly 365 days before my soul expires. I just wanted to set Varek up for a happy, comfortable life before I fade away - so why is this famously cold inventor suddenly getting so flustered, and what happens when he figures out my secret?
